Improving Relationships
In this hard pressed contemporary working environment
managers and top-level executives must notice changes that could lower
the organization’s efficiency and productivity and act before it
degenerates. They need to pay attention to rampant distrust, resentment
and
opposition stemming
from poor communication,
misunderstanding or mind-reading that affect the enthusiasm, creativity
and morale of the workgroup. Failing to deal skilfully with this
situation can raise the level of frustrations and nurture open conflicts
that will drain energy and delay completion of goals. In the worst case
scenario animosity will ripple outside the company’s walls and spill to
the public associating its name and image to scandal in the collective
unconscious, thus causing irremediable harm.
The
objective of this individual or group coaching
is to help managers recognize the symptoms of this degradation and
provide them with communication tools aiming at improving the working
relationship, special emphasis being given to expressive, efficient
voicing and empathic, appreciative response.
You
will be coached to:

Learn to notice the changes in attitude when employees are less
focused on tasks and more sensitive to relationships

Recognize potential problems and inquire for more by asking “and what
else..?”

Express viewpoints that encompass managers’ worries and issues facing
the workgroup

Conduct an appreciative inquiry to foster clarity and expression of
unhappiness or resentment

Dissociate person and behaviour

Look for a positive intent or create one

Focus on relationship rather than substance

Dissipate tension and apologize or provide explanations when necessary

Give value to shared goals

Recognize automatic opposition processes and deal with them

Be empathic when facing stony silence and express your feelings

Be intent on saving face

Be specific and descriptive about expected changes
Through
individual or group coaching, top-level managers and executives will be
helped to bring back a climate of confidence and trust that will
liberate communication, paving the way for the building-up of a renewed
organizational spirit cemented by motivation and awarded by a
flourishing creativity. Such climate of confidence is always associated with higher levels of productivity.
